Idol goes for 4th straight People’s Choice award

American Idol will be trying for a fourth straight People’s Choice honor as favorite TV competition show when the 2013 awards are aired Wednesday at 9 p.m. (EST).

A year ago, Idol beat out The Voice, America’s Got Talent, Dancing with the Stars and So You Think You Can Dance for the crown.

(AP Photo)This year, all three singing shows are nominated. Yep, even The X Factor. The other nominees are Dancing with the Stars and America’s Got Talent.

But that’s hardly the only category that will hold interest for singing show fans at the People’s Choice Awards. The nomination list is chock full of names from the shows.

All five nominees for favorite celebrity judge hail from one of them. That list includes Adam Levine and Christina Aguilera of The Voice, Britney Spears and Demi Lovato of The X Factor and former Idol judge Jennifer Lopez.

And former Idol winner Carrie Underwood is nominated in three categories, including favorite female artist and album of the year.

Here’s a complete rundown of singing show nominees. Check back Wednesday night for photos and to find out who won.

Male Artist: Blake Shelton is nominated alongside Chris Brown, Jason Mraz, Justin Bieber and Usher.

Female Artist: Carrie Underwood is nominated alongside Taylor Swift, Katy Perry, Pink and Adele.

Favorite Pop Artist: Demi Lovato is nominated alongside Pink, Katy Perry, Justin Bieber and Adele.

Favorite Hip-Hop Artist: Nicki Minaj is nominated alongside Drake, Jay-Z, Pitbull and Flo Rida.

Favorite Song: Maroon 5′s “One More Night” is nominated. The favorite might be Carly Rae Jepsen’s “Call Me Maybe.” Other nominees are “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” by Taylor Swift, “What Makes You Beautiful” by One Direction and “We Are Young” by Fun.

Favorite Album: Carrie Underwood’s “Blown Away” and Maroon 5′s “Overexposed” are nominated. So are One Direction’s “Up All Night,” “Some Nights” by Fun and “Believe” by Justin Bieber.

Favorite Music Video: Maroon 5′s “Payphone” is nominated along with Katy Perry’s “Part of Me,” Justin Bieber’s “Girlfriend,” Carly Rae’s “Call Me Maybe” and PSY’s “Gangnam Style.”

Favorite TV Competition Show: American Idol, The Voice, The X Factor, Dancing with the Stars, America’s Got Talent

Favorite Celebrity Judge: Adam Levine, Christina Aguilera, Demi Lovato, Britney Spears, Jennifer Lopez.
