Selena Moreno is the 22-year-old from Sacramento, Calif., who auditioned alongside her twin sister.
Selena wound up with a unanimous yes for a golden ticket to Hollywood.
Sister Sierra wasn’t quite as fortunate, an outcome that reduced Selena to tears in the audition room.
Well, I’m not sure I agree with Harry Connick Jr.’s rather harsh critique of Sierra.
It’s worth noting that in Season 12, both were deemed good enough to head to Hollywood.
And it’s also worth noting that the day before their audition aired, Sierra and Selena released a single to iTunes called “Magic” — as the Moreno Twins.
Selena auditioned with Janis Joplin’s “Try (Just a Little Bit Harder)” while Sierra auditioned with Beyonce’s “1 + 1.”
Selena says it was tough to walk up to Jennifer and accept the golden ticket after Sierra didn’t make it through, but she sounded determined to push on for both of them by the time Idol filmed her Road to Hollywood video.
“I’m here, and I’m going to do this for the both of us because that was the plan, no matter what,” she said.
Vocally, Selena says Alicia Keys in one of her biggest inspirations and added that she tries to imitate certain things the superstar does with her voice.

We’ll start off with that aforementioned single.
