We caught just a bit of Paris Primeau’s audition for American Idol in Detroit.

But you might remember her because of her bright pink hair.

Yet on Facebook, Paris writes that “music is the color in this black and white world.”

Paris is 16 and a student at Dakota High School in Macomb, Mich.

She says she’s been singing and performing since age 12 and, according to The Voice newspaper, she placed first in the Chippewa Valley District Idol competition in 2013.

For her audition, the teen performed “House of the Rising Sun.”

In her Road to Hollywood video, Paris tells us all three judges voted to advance her to Hollywood. And Harry Connick Jr. appreciated her “quirkiness.”

Given that she prefers pop-rock music, it’s not surprising that Paris says her musical inspirations include Demi Lovato and Jessie J.

“They both have fantastic voices. And they’re really smart businesswomen, I think.”

As for what makes Paris unique …

“I definitely have a different look, but I think that goes beyond just my hair,” she says. “And I have a different voice. A lot of times when I ask people, ‘Can you tell me who I sound like so I can answer that question?’ They say, ‘No one, really. You’re different.’ So it’s a good thing.”

I’ve embedded some videos below, including a wonderful cover of “Titanium,” so you can check out that unique voice. If you want to hear more, head to Paris’ YouTube channel or ReverbNation page.

Pre-order Marina's new album

She has no connection to a singing show that I'm aware of, but I'm going to plug the new Marina and the Diamonds album anyway. Pre-orders are under way on various sites. In the meantime, here's an oldie, but goodie -- Mowgli's Road.
