Lindsey Pedicone told us she’s been dreaming of singing on American Idol since she was 5 years old.
But it wasn’t Kelly Clarkson or one of the other early winners who provided her latest inspiration to do so.
In her Road to Hollywood video, Lindsey says that motivation and persistence came from watching her brother in his quest to join the Navy.
The 18-year-old from Kennett Square, Pa., admits she was nervous to sing in front of the judges.
But she took comfort in the fact that the judges seemed to be getting into her performance of “Bottom of the River” by Delta Rae, banging on the table as she sang.
“It was really cool to see them interact with the song and do that,” she says.
Lindsey says she likes “old classic music,” but doesn’t pin herself down to one genre.
She’s hoping the fact that she’s quirky and a female will help her in her American Idol quest.
“I think there’s been too many guys who have won,” she says.
On Twitter, Lindsey describes herself as “a singer and painter just trying to make a name for myself in this world.” You can follow her at @linnyloves.
