10 suggestions for saving American Idol

On Monday, FOX executives said the work to fix American Idol would begin immediately after the season finale.

So being the helpful blogger than I am, I figured I’d lend my suggestions on how to save the show in the face of tumbling ratings and stiffer competition.

Candice Glover wasn’t the only winner on Idol

Way back in her Road to Hollywood video, Candice Glover said she was hoping the third time would be the charm.

She’d auditioned for Idol in Season 10, made it to Hollywood, advanced to the Top 60, but got cut before the voting rounds.

She’d auditioned for Idol in Season 11, made it to the Vegas round of 40, but again, failed to make the semifinals.

American Idol finale: Candice Glover takes the Season 12 title

So, American Idol bloggers, including yours truly, have come to a conclusion.

Candice Glover should be crowned the Season 12 Idol tonight.

But will that happen?

With the season finale later this week, it’s time to grade the judges.

Yep, that Season 12 panel that included three new faces and turned out to be every bit as dysfunctional as the rumor mill suggested it might be last summer.

Candice, Kree hit iTunes and how to find Angie’s single

At long last, Season 12 American Idols are on the iTunes chart.

As followers of the show know, Idol doesn’t let iTunes reveal how popular tunes performed on the show are while the finals are in progress.

With Candice Glover crowned the winner Thursday night, the ban has apparently been lifted.

Highlights and lowlights of Idol’s Season 12 finale

Considering past finales have featured Rihanna, Beyonce and Lady Gaga, American Idol was a bit shy on star power Thursday night.

And some of the stars who did take part in the festivities — 79-year-old Frankie Valli and 71-year-old Aretha Franklin — are a wee bit past their prime.

But it helped that the show brought back two of its best singers ever in Jennifer Hudson and Adam Lambert.

And it helped mightily that the show discovered a sense of humor.
