Hey mate. I am almost 17 and just discovered the sport of Hurling about two weeks ago. After watching four full matches on youtube, I can surely say I just found my favorite sport. I live in Cumberland, PA and deperate to find a place to play.

John, thanks for the insights in the article. I hesitate using this forum, but I need to say that the excitement of the players and teams I've encountered through our GAA site has been nothing but fantastic! The GAA in the U.S has the energy to grow and spread. We began this project to bring GAA gear to the U.S. out of a need in our own family, and what I've noticed from the GAA fire among players, is that the hurling "families" across the States have the same need. Fox River and many others have demonstrated that with the ideal catalyst, we are prepared to take a stronger GAA into the future, and I'm proud to say we're excited to be a part of that future! John, thanks for all you do to promote the GAA. Keep up the great work!!

Much like yourselves, I too found the report vague. Goals are great, but to be effective and motivational they need to be measurable and specific. The bit about supplies is spot on. The biggest expense to players and the most prohibitive aspect of hurling clubs is the cost of equipment. What about equipment grants for existing clubs while new clubs get a starter package that includes how to administer and fundraise for clubs. Or, perhaps travel grants for divisional winners to attend nationals?

I also liked your statement of adapting to American thinking. We've been playing sports here in the U.S. area since people inhabited the land. And, we have developed a way of thinking and administering sports. Its in our mindset.
